Eclectic Musings and an Ode to Autumn
I’m brand new to this blogging thing. New beginnings are fun and awkward. For me, it’s not even about “doing it for the gram” as some might say. It is about providing a space to share in the very haven wellspring that you stand upon with this Mother Earth. So, without further adieu, I would like to introduce the world to The Haven of Poeia.
So, what exactly is poeia? There may or may not be an exactness about it. But, just for fun, we could give it some legs for a moment, then it could be known as the genesis of novelty. For now. It is the crown of creation. It is the eternal wellspring that is evergiving and ever loving without condition or expectation.
I would like to invite you to ask yourself a few simple, yet powerful questions. These are the kinds of questions that have really carried me through many experiences in my life and have served as guide stones for finding purpose and meaning in life:
How can I push the envelope of creativity?
How can I bring something new to the world that was previously not there before?
How can I tap into the effervescent blossoming of the wellspring within myself?
How can I birth something into this world that creates everlasting change?
Take your time when meditating on these, because life’s not a race and there isn’t a due date. Conditioning is a bitch isn’t it? Just a warning from the outset, be prepared to listen to me ramble, rave and rant about anything and everything. I also curse like a sailor. In all seriousness though, this is a space where I would like to share musings on life, philosophy, poetry, ponderings, rambles, wisdom, insight, love, care, blessings, words of healing, healing images, experiences of pleasures and pain, observations during the turning of the wheel of the year and anything and everything in between. More importantly it is a space for those who seek solace. It is a space for those who have tasted darkness. It is for those who seek meaning and depth in their lives. It is for those who seek the knowledge of the wellspring.
Setting the stage is interesting. It feels interesting because there is so much I would like to share. I feel like I’ve been sitting on a goldmine of wisdom that has been dying to be sent outward and shared with others. Like a blossoming garden that has spent many long moons being cultivated through the crucible of alchemy.
The power of the written word and the spoken word is immensely profound and can have an impact greater than we may be aware of at times. It is the original modality. It is the most direct modality for creating change–whether it be harmful or helpful–in the world. It is also deeply impactful in cultivating presence and realizing the preciousness of non-action.
Within the past year or so since moving through a profoundly dark time in this life I have discovered my passion for writing, reading, creativity and language. I plan on writing a book about my tale of my time of 33 trips around our great star. The inner workings are stirring. I’m learning to love to revel in the process of things and of events, places and times. Most importantly I have learned of my passion for poetry.
Within your Heart there is a space, a place that is beyond time, beyond measure. Some people call it the Tao, while others call it the Holy Spirit. It is a presence beyond presence. It is a place untouchable. It is the poeia of being. It is immune to conditioning. This blog is for those who come from any walk of life.
“The Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao.” -Lao Tzu
I love to write. I invite you to find that thing that really moves you. Something that brings you to tears because life is so grand. Life is so beautiful. Even in tragedy, heartbreak and pain and in loss–there is astounding beauty to be felt if you have the presence to be graced by it. Even if you have found that thing that moves you, I would venture to bet there is even something else beyond that, just over the horizon of your dreams that is waiting to be blessed by your adoration.
In all honesty I really wanted to get this blog up and ready for the Fall Equinox because I had planned on writing a poem for the momentous day.
Autumn is my absolutely favorite time of the year for so many reasons. It is a very nostalgic time of the year. It is a time of the year where nostalgia can easily be evoked in unique ways. Almost specific to the season itself. I have always held Autumn within a very special and intimate place in my heart. Not only because the unbearable Texas heat begins to relent, but a palpable shift begins to take hold. So many memories of people, places and things that provide the Heart with a sense of wonder from the past.
There is a specific feeling and sense that I experience around the time of the equinox almost every year. The shifting of the qi. The rays of the sun glow differently upon the Earth in an almost mystique way all the while nostalgic hearts sing the praise of transition into a slower time of year when enchantment coaxes curiosity.
In closing for today, I would love to send you off with a simple poem commemorating the blessing of a new season on Earth.
The wheel is turning
As time slows
The golden shimmer of mystery
Invites curious hearts
To the waning of the days
Once spent in fiery fields
Pining for a cooler time
A slower time
A celebration of transition
A rehearsal for death
Memento Mori
Until we meet again may blessings always find their home in your Heart within the wellspring of being.
